Rise above events that are inconsequential — both bad and good — for they are not worth disturbing your peace.
When something bad happens, be patient with the one who caused it, and don't rush to react in anger.
All your actions and possessions should have a set place and time. Let each thing have its place.
Do not waste time. Every day should accomplish something. Cut out unnecessary activities.
Keep your body, clothing, and surroundings clean and orderly. Outer cleanliness reflects inner purity.
Do not speak of your own praise. Do not take up more space than you need. Recognize the greatness of others.
What is hateful to you, do not do to your neighbor. Pursue justice in your dealings with others.
Be careful with your money. Do not spend on things that are not necessary. Avoid waste.
Do what must be done with enthusiasm and energy. Do not procrastinate on important matters.
Before speaking, ask: is this necessary? Is it true? Is it kind? Guard your tongue carefully.
Be satisfied with what you have. Want less, rather than acquiring more.
Speak only the truth. Avoid exaggeration. Let your yes be yes and your no be no.
Distance yourself from excess physical pleasures. Eat to live, do not live to eat.
